Disclosure: I am not a republican and didn't agree with Charlie Kirk's political opinions, and even so, I don't condone violence in any manner. A week after Charlie Kirk's death, here are the poems I wrote on 9/10/25 after hearing of his death.
Death is devastating
Violence is disheartening
Political violence is infuriating
It shouldn’t matter what your political stance is
Shouldn’t matter if you agree or not
Violence is never the answer
We shouldn’t praise a murderer
It’s demeaning
This second one is supposed to sound like new anchors talking about his death. One day, I think it'd be cool to patch together new anchors actually saying these things into a video. I feel that would be very powerful.
Blood gushing from his neck
Shot in Utah
Charlie Kirk declared dead at hospital
Murderer unknown
All over social media
Bullet casings with memes
He’s a martyr
People are glad he’s dead
It’s shaken the country
A turning point of this century
The point of no return
Political violence is being normalized
September 10th 2025
and here's the last one:
I don’t agree with Charlie Kirk
On almost anything
Still, I don’t want him dead
And I don’t want to hear your reasons for “why”
He died because of how easy it is to get a gun listened
He died because of the radical left
He died because of there were hikes in his security
He died because he rage baited too much
It was coming for him
He died as karma for what he said about gun deaths
I don’t care if none of all of these are true
Death is death
Violence is unacceptable
We can disagree with someone’s views and still not celebrate their death
He was 31
With 2 young daughters and a wife at home
Don’t celebrate violence
It’s scary enough already
We don’t need to encourage it
Our country's in disarray. I don't know if we can come back from this, but I very much hope so.
