leaning into creativity

If you asked me, I would say that I'm not an artist. Even though an artist simply means someone who creates art, and art can be anything from drawing and painting to acting and writing, I wouldn't have believed I could create art. Art is something you see at a museum, on Pinterest/social media, it's something you learn about in history class, not something you do for fun. I've been trying to build my output of creativity between poetry and drawing/sketching. So this October, I vowed to do Inktober, and well, I've already missed a day. I've struggled a lot with just feeling like my art wasn't good, and it didn't look quite right. Now I've realized I need to find my style. What do I enjoy drawing, and what do those drawings have in common? I am also enrolled in a fundamentals of drawing class that's helping to develop my basic sketching skills, like shading and 3D objects. Want to see day one of Inktober?

I've noticed that all my drawings have something in common: basic shapes and rectangles. Honestly, I'm liking it, they're cute!
So if recently you've been struggling to open your sketchbook or you've never considered yourself an artist or creative in general, I implore you to grab a sheet of paper from the printer and a pencil and just doodle. Take it one step at a time. Have fun, artists!
